Eretz-Ir

About Us

Eretz-Ir’s origin story is like the garage band to rockstar version of nonprofits. Started by a group of motivated young adults who found themselves living in Be’er Sheva and desiring a richer community-centered life, they dreamt of how to infuse community everywhere possible from one member’s upstairs office and to share their acquired experience beyond the boundaries of their community. Eretz-Ir has since matured into a national nonprofit that is the leader in the field of community building and development, social entrepreneurship, and local leadereship in Israel’s periphery regions.

How We

Do It

Eretz-Ir is a professional, organizational, and economic platform that supports residents positively influencing the place they live. We connect with residents who want to create change in their environment and help them to organize, acquire professional tools, and meet like-minded partners. We support local activists, communities, and social entrepreneurs who live in the periphery of Israel and strive to make their cities good, positive places to live.

According to our communal outlook, deep long-term social processes in cities require multiple sector partnerships: local, regional, and national. We connect a myriad of partners to our various initiatives and lead interventions that create a uniform language, common goals, and a pooling of resources between all stakeholders.
